Transpalpebral tonometry as a priority method for intraocular pressure monitoring in corneal pathology

چکیده
BACKGROUND: Measurement of intraocular pressure in the presence combined ophthalmic condition could determine further therapy and prognosis. However, tonometry corneal diseases lead to unreliable results. The search for methods measurement these settings is a critical task intended expand diagnostic capabilities.
AIM: Evaluation transpalpebral value monitoring patients with conditions various origin.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Measurements were carried out 39 glaucoma and/or cataract (mean age 62.34 9.1), changes due conditions: post-traumatic scars; keratotomy scars as result refractive surgery; defects ulcerative process etiology; erosions; bullous keratopathy; deformities leukomas after surgical treatment pterygium or exposure an infectious agent. Intraocular was using several methods: palpation, rebound tonometry, some cases performed according Maklakov method.
RESULTS: averaged data comparable: palpation; 23.34 4.7 mm Hg; 24.27 23.16 5.4 Hg. accuracy reproducibility results increased significantly improvement skills tonometers.
CONCLUSIONS: Transpalpebral TVGD-02 tonometer makes it possible adequately assess pathology. absence contact during implementation technique recognize priority when measuring certain categories patients.

Applanation resonance tonometry for intraocular pressure measurement
3 Doubt is the beginning of wisdom. (René Descartes) 4 5 1 Abstract Elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) is one of the major risk factors for glaucoma. Since glaucoma is a leading cause of blindness, reliable methods for measuring the IOP are important. This doctoral dissertation presents a new method, applanation resonance tonometry (ART), for measurement of IOP. The method is based on resonanc...

Purpose. To compare the intraocular pressure (IOP) before and after Laser In Situ Keratomileusis (LASIK), measured by Diaton, Perkins, and noncontact air pulse tonometers. Methods. Fifty-seven patients with a mean age of 34.88 were scheduled for myopia LASIK treatment. Spherical equivalent refraction (SER), corneal curvature (K), and central corneal thickness (CCT) and superior corneal thicknes...

Eye tonometry is one of the leading methods used in the patient with ophthalmopathology checkup. The first tonometer acceptable for clinical practice was designed and described in 1884 by A.N.Maklakov [2]. The tonometers introduced earlier had serious drawbacks and were not used in clinical practice. Before this the intraocular pressure (IOP) was evaluated only approximately with the help of ey...
متن کاملHow to measure intraocular pressure: applanation tonometry
Unless there is a contraindication (e.g. trauma or corneal ulcer), all adults attending an eye unit should have their intraocular pressure (IOP) measured. Many people with glaucoma have no symptoms and do not know they have the condition. All children who have had cataract surgery should also have their IOP measured at every follow-up visit, if possible. Finding glaucoma early allows treatment ...
متن کاملHow to measure intraocular pressure: Schiötz tonometry
If glaucoma is diagnosed early, treatment can then be given that may preserve vision. Although raised intraocular pressure (IOP) is not the only sign of glaucoma, the IOP should be checked routinely on all adults attending eye care facilities. Applanation tonometry (as described in Issue 64, December 2007) is the most accurate method to measure IOP, but Schiötz tonometry is also a useful screen...
